Who we are
Our website addresses are: https://stupidtrucking.com, https://stupidtrucking.co.uk and https://stupidtrucking.online
Overall Privacy Philosophy
We’re delightfully indifferent to your personal life. We collect only the bare minimum data necessary to keep our website functioning and occasionally entertaining. Think of it as digital housekeeping – we grab just enough technical crumbs to ensure the lights stay on and the buttons actually work. Your identity remains as mysterious to us as you’d like it to be.
Comments
When visitors leave comments on the site we collect the data shown in the comments form, and also the visitor’s IP address and browser user agent string to help spam detection.
When you leave comments, we collect what you type in the form, plus your IP address and browser info to help us fight spam (because spam is the worst). We might also create an anonymous hash from your email to check if you use Gravatar for profile pictures. If you do, and we approve your comment, your Gravatar will show up next to it. The Gravatar folks have their own privacy policy at https://automattic.com/privacy/
Media
If you upload images, be aware that any location data baked into those files (EXIF GPS data) comes along for the ride. Other visitors can potentially extract this info, so maybe don’t upload that selfie from your secret hideout.
Cookies
The digital kind, not the delicious kind. If you comment, you can opt to save your name, email, and website in cookies so you don’t have to retype everything next time. These last for a year.
We also use temporary cookies to test if your browser plays nice with cookies, plus some login-related ones if you have an account. Login cookies last two days, display preference cookies last a year, and “Remember Me” stretches to two weeks. When you edit posts, we drop a tiny cookie that just remembers which post you worked on – it expires after a day.
Embedded content from other websites
Sometimes we embed videos, images, or other content from around the web. When we do, those sites can track you just as if you’d visited them directly. We have no control over their behavior – they’re their own digital entities with their own privacy shenanigans.
Who we share your data with
Pretty much nobody. The only exception: if you request a password reset, your IP address gets included in the reset email for security reasons.
How long we retain your data
Comments and their metadata stick around indefinitely so we can auto-approve your future comments instead of making you wait in moderation purgatory.
If you register an account, we store your profile info until you delete it or we do. You can view, edit, or delete your personal information anytime (except your username – that’s permanent, so choose wisely).
What rights you have over your data
You can request an exported file of all the personal data we have about you, or ask us to delete it entirely. We’ll comply unless we’re legally required to keep something for administrative, legal, or security purposes.
Where your data is sent
We run visitor comments through automated spam detection because nobody has time for that nonsense.
